MEGADETH's CHRIS BRODERICK Talks About The Making Of 'Endgame' - Dec. 15, 2009
The Australian branch of Roadrunner Records has posted episode 2 of Roadrunner TV featuring an interview with MEGADETH guitarist Chris Broderick. The clip, which features footage of Broderick playing solos from the band's new album, "Endgame", can be viewed below.

"Endgame" sold 45,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 9 on The Billboard 200 chart.

MEGADETH's previous CD, "United Abominations", opened with around 54,000 copies in the U.S. to debut at No. 8. This was more than the 46,000 first-week tally registered by its predecessor, "The System Has Failed" (which landed at No. 18 on The Billboard 200 chart), and was a bit less than the 61,000 opening number of 2001's "The World Needs A Hero" (No. 16).

"Endgame" was recorded at MEGADETH's brand new, self-built studio in San Marcos, California — Vic's Garage — which was named after the legendary and iconic Vic Rattlehead character. The CD was helmed by MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine and British producer Andy Sneap (EXODUS, NEVERMORE, ARCH ENEMY, MACHINE HEAD).

Despite the fact Endgame is almost up there with Megadeth's best albums, it's probably the only album with really forgetable solos.

yea solos on endgame are amazing. Not very catchy, but once you listen to them a couple of times they stick in your head like bees on honey... (what?? lol)

I bet you could play the solos note for note, right Pod?

I hate guitar snobs.

was not whether or not Chris is technically amazing; it's that Pod thinks his solos are not that memorable.

big difference.

and whether or not he can play those solos (99.99999 % the answer is No) doesn't matter: metal fans, especially on a metal forum, have the right to express their opinions. and they don't need to be a musician, or world-class one, to do so.

i can't direct a feature film; does that mean i shouldn't be able to critique a director?

i can't play NFL-calibre football; does that mean i can't critique a pro player?

cheers.

We're all lucky that Megadave found him. Of course, I would have loved a Nevermore cd with Loomis and Broderick, but they snoozed and lost. Man, that would have been a great Nevermore one two punch. Like Friedman and Becker all over again.

Point taken-but there's also such a thing as a educated opinion and not just talking out of your ass because you happened to listen to something and made a judgment. There's nothing worse than someone who has a really strong opinion on something they don't know shit about. To say you enjoyed or didn't enjoy Broderick's solos is fine but to imply they are bad because YOU don't find them memorable is dumb. Not everything Holdsworth or Vai doesn't is memorable-does that make it bad?

I'm assuming you mean 'Broderick's solos are THE shit'? LOL! I personally think the cat is solid-a lot more skilled than ANY of the other leads in the 'Big Four' except maybe Chris Poland. Freidman is close, IMHO. I just find it so weird that people will call someone BAD if they don't like a solo, as opposed to realizing that they may just not like it...

That record kicks major ass. I haven't listened to anything else since I got it two months ago.
